DESY Innovation Factory
The DESY Innovation Factory will be a center for start-ups, bridge fundamental, applied and indsutrial reseach in the fields of life science and new materials. The integrated technology and start-up center is designed to be a hotbed for new and innovative ideas, services and products and playan integral part in the Science City Bahrenfeld.
The DESY Innovation Factory is planned by DESY with a projected opening in 2025. The integrated technology center and start-up incubator is geared towards strengthening innovation and the location for high-tech in the long run. A place where excellence from basic research, ideas from applied science and companies, from start-ups to established players in their respective market segment, can come together and bring new, innovative products or services for business and society into application. The DESY Innovation Factory will host novel ideas, cooperation projects between science and industry, start-ups and companies in various growth phases. There will be two locations, one on the DESY Campus an one in the innovation and technology park Vorhornweg, just a fewbike minutes away from the main DESY campus.
The DESY Innovation Factory is funded by federal resources and the City of Hamburg.
The DESY Innovation Factory offers space for entrepreneurs, start-ups, scale-ups, applied research projects and industrial cooperation in life sciences and new materials.
The DESY Innovation Factory offers space for researching, developing and prtototypng high-tech products and services, application-oriented experiments adn research with market potential as well as the cooperation and partnership between industry and research groups.
The DESY innovation Facotory will offer labs and spaces for different experiments (i.e. clean rooms and wet labs), workshops for electronics and mechanics, offices, meeting rooms as well as space for events and networking. Of course, there will be access to more infrastructure on campus, namely the large-scale research facilities and the various competence centers (structural biology, nanoscience, laser technology). Last but not least: a lively research and start-up network.
