Launchpad for ideas

For innovative product ideas from the deep-tech sector, the Makerspace of the DESY Innovation Factory offers 120m2 of experimental space for 3D printing, mechanics and electronics. Prototypes can be developed and tested for their feasibility in reality there. Offices, co-working spaces (up to ten people) and rooms for community events are available for evaluating results and exchanging ideas. Flexible and quick booking options facilitate spontaneous work planning.
The offer is aimed at (pre-)founders, start-ups & scale-ups and can be used for transfer & collaboration projects. The Makerspace is run by Start-up Labs Hamburg and is located in the Innovation Village on the DESY campus - the Makerspace is thus another contact point for innovators in the growing Science City Bahrenfeld.

IFB Innovationsstarter, led by Annette Wurl and Florence Müller, offers a range of funding opportunities for innovative projects, including InnoImpact, which supports societal and environmental innovations, InnoFounder, aimed at digital pre-seed projects, and InnoRampUp, which provides funding for deep-tech startups. Additionally, the Innovationsstarter Fund Hamburg offers venture capital to startups that have developed a minimum viable product (MVP) and have gained market traction, providing essential support for growth and success in their industries.

  1. Pre-foundation (DESY Start-up programme)
    • No basic fee
    • 10 Euros per person per month for consumables

  2. Start-ups (up to 3 years or 3 persons)
    • 80 Euros per company per month
    • 10 Euros per person per month for consumables

  3. Start-ups (4 years or older/ 4 or more persons)
    • 100 Euros per company per month
    • 15 Euros per person per month for consumables
