Social Innovation

‘TransferWelten’ at the Körber Foundation's Next.Gen Summit

On 10 April 2025, the joint project ‘TransferWelten’ by DESY and the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg) was represented at the Körber Foundation's 3rd ‘Next.Gen Summit for Good’ in Hamburg. As part of ‘TransferWelten’, DESY and HAW Hamburg are pooling their expertise in the field of technology and knowledge transfer in order to initiate new innovation processes between science, business, society and politics.

The event brought together young founders, people interested in founding a company and social start-ups from Generation Z and offered a platform for dialogue: in interactive workshops, personal 1-on-1 sessions with experts and intensive discussion formats, participants were able to gain new impetus, develop their ideas and network in a practical way.

One highlight was the workshop format #Science4SocialInnovation, which brought together young social entrepreneurs with researchers from DESY and HAW Hamburg. In a structured exchange, the participants jointly developed new perspectives and solutions for issues relating to their own start-up project - supported by scientific expertise and exclusive networking opportunities.

TransferWelten

The ‘TransferWelten’ project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, aims to combine social and technological impulses. External needs and issues are specifically integrated into scientific operations in order to promote transdisciplinary cooperation with stakeholders from politics, business and society. The aim is to integrate technological developments from the high-tech sector into socially relevant contexts at an early stage.
