BVIZ annual conference taking place on the DESY campus

The Federal Association of German Innovation, Technology and Start-up Centers (BVIZ) is conducting its 2023 annual conference from September 24-26 in Hamburg, with Start-up Labs Bahrenfeld on the DESY campus as the host.

The conference explores the question "Is artificial intelligence taking over our centers?", founders, center managers and experts will discuss which challenges and opportunities artificial intelligence (AI) holds for innovation centers, start-ups and the respective locations.

About 120 conference participants will meet in the Start-up Labs Bahrenfeld on the DESY campus. The Start-up Labs, the innovation center of DESY, the city and the University of Hamburg, are a central component of an extensive innovation ecosystem in the growing Science City Hamburg-Bahrenfeld.

Melanie Leonard, Hambrg's Senator foor Economics says: "Here, on the DESY campus, excellent science meets a strong economy in an environment of an entrepreneurial mindset and a creative start-up scene - a very special future location in Hamburg. I am therefore very pleased that the BVIZ annual conference is taking place at the Start-up Labs in Bahrenfeld. This networking can strengthen connections and foster ideas and thus create additional jobs in Hamburg and nationwide."

The link between data and innovation is central to the the co-host, DESY. Arik Willner, Chief Technology Officer DESY says: "Dealing with AI- is elementary, it is a topic for each of the start-ups from the deeptech sector that we host here on campus. And not only for the companies - in all scientific fields AI is central and opening up new possibilities. It is in the vital interest of all parties involved that science and young innovative companies regularly exchange ideas. This is one of the reasons why DESY is involved in this area."

The federal association represents more than 150 member companies from all over Germany, which are home to more than 6,800 companies and provide more than 173,000 jobs.
